Freiburg's spectacular comeback victory over regional rivals VfB Stuttgart this weekend produced an unfortunate late casualty. At the tail end of the Saturday Bundesliga fixture, Freiburg midfielder Johan Manzambi was sent off on a straight red card. Manzambi's high boot to the head of Stuttgart defender Ramon Hendriks at 90+8 minutes will cost him two league fixtures.

 

The German FA confirmed a two-match ban for the 19-year-old on Monday. Manzambi remains eligible to participate in Freiburg's Europa League fixtures but will be unavailable for forthcoming league matches against SV Werder Bremen and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. SCF head coach Julian Schuster will be unable to call upon Manzambi until October.
