AS Monaco have entered into talks with EFL Championship side Leicester City to sign Wout Faes, according to a report from Foot Mercato. The Belgian international centre-back could make his return to Ligue 1 after his breakthrough seasons at Stade de Reims. He joined Leicester City, who were then in the Premier League, in 2022 for a reported £15m transfer fee. Faes remains contracted with the Foxes until 2027.

Foot Mercato reports that talks are underway between all parties involved to reach an agreement that will see Faes join up with Sébastien Pocognoli’s Monégasques. The Principality side is in dire need of defensive reinforcements following an injury crisis that recently afflicted Mohamed Salisu, whose season is over after tearing his ACL. Monaco hosts Lorient on Friday.
