Max Eberl, the personnel chief of Bayern Munich, confirmed that contract extension talks with Harry Kane have commenced. The England national team captain still has 18 months left on his current contract. Bayern are hoping to extend his deal by another one to two years.

The England captain chose to allow the significant release clause of €65m, which could have seen him leave Bayern this January, to lapse. It is evaluated that further clauses allowing such moves may exist in the summer or in January 2027.
